The Development Officer Connector:
Linking Faculty to Philanthropy

The Office of Development works to identify initiatives that promote the University of Louisville's mission and are likely to have strong appeal to donors — alumni, friends, parents, faculty, staff, foundations, and corporations seeking to make an impact through their philanthropy. Since 2010 we have raised nearly $1.4 billion in philanthropic support for research, teaching, student aid, creative and scholarly activities, facilities, outreach, and other academic endeavors.

Our success depends on how well we know the university, its innovative programs and projects, and the faculty, students, and staff whose accomplishments make UofL a premier metropolitan research university. As such, we embed development professionals in nearly every school/unit on campus. Still, we want to be sure that we reach every faculty member who is seeking philanthropic support for the work they do to advance the University’s mission. That’s why we are unveiling a new communications tool called the Development Office Connector. With this tool, you can tell us about your project and the financial resources you need to move it to the next level.

Using the Development Office Connector allows you to communicate directly with the Office of Development so that we can explore philanthropic funding opportunities for your work. We will meet with you to learn about your specific needs, identify potential donors, develop targeted fundraising strategies, and draft compelling case statements, proposals, and/or marketing materials.

First, please complete a Development Office Connector form. We will send your form to the appropriate Dean, Department Chair, or Director in your school/unit, who will determine if the project is a high priority for fundraising. Once reviewed and approved, a development professional will contact you within one week to discuss next steps.

Please note:

  • Submitting a form does not guarantee philanthropic support. Some projects, though worthy, may have limited appeal to donors.
  • The Office of Development will not review incomplete forms. All fields are required. Feel free to past text from other documents into the form.
  • The form may completed either online or by emailing the completed PDF to
